The First Annual Valencrab’s Day

Claire and I were discussing seafood. My mom’s side of the family is from New England, and they prefer lobster. Claire was telling me her family always cooked up crab. I’d confessed that I’d never cooked up crab at home and wasn’t too familiar with it. Claire and I made plans to cook crab together, and it was February, so we decided on a Valentine’s Day Crab Cookout, appropriately titled: Valencrab’s Day

I did some digging around online and came across these ridiculously awesome crab hats. We had a few days to prepare for Valencrab’s day, so I ordered these hats in secret to surprise Claire with.

Claire and I went out to pick up some seafood from a local seafood market. When we returned Claire started steaming the crab and mussels while I excused myself to fetch the crab hats and surprise Claire.

Crab, mussels, corn, potatoes, and some red wine to close out the first annual Valencrab’s Day.
